Why the Companies Act?

KHA explains its registration this way. Section 3 of the Companies Act 2017, the principal law of the corporate sector, allows an association to register with the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies, Sindh, provided it meets two conditions: it must be a non-trading association, and its activities must be confined to the province of Sindh. KHA meets both. The 2017 Act replaced the Companies Ordinance, 1984, which had itself replaced the Companies Act, 1913, the law under which KHA was first registered in 1979.
